While the late Joan Rivers was always quick to joke about her frequent stints under the knife saying, “I’ve had so much plastic surgery that when I die, they will donate my body to Tupperware,” not everyone is as outspoken as the legendary Rivers—especially not Italy’s very own Michaela Romanini. With little known about Romanini beyond her drastic transformation over the last few decades, it is obvious that the Italian socialite is obsessed with her search for the fountain of youth so much that she’s no longer recognizable as one of Italy’s most beautiful women. Instead, she’s known today as Italy’s very own “Paris Hilton” whose obsession with her looks has spiraled out of control and earned her a prime spot among some of the most devastatingly botched plastic surgeries in the world. Don’t believe us? With her face forever frozen from years of Botox and collagen injections, let’s take a look at Romanini’s journey from Italian beauty to freakish fright!

Although little is known about Romanini’s early life in Italy and how she evolved into one of the country’s most well-known socialites, there is absolutely no question that she was a beauty icon and sex symbol in her youth—there are even pictures to prove it! As she transitioned from her teens into adulthood and settled into her life among Italy’s elite, Romanini recognized the importance of keeping up her appearances and, despite her close circle of friends always admiring her exquisite and timeless beauty, she struggled with her need for perfection as every new wrinkle or age spot dared to find its way to her face. In fact, her obsession with perfection and her need to be the ultimate vision of beauty is exactly what led her down the path of what many now refer to as a plastic surgery addiction, much like what the world has seen in celebrities like Joan Rivers, Jocelyn Wildenstein, Mickey Rourke and Donatella Versace. Heck, even Dolly Parton is known for stints under the knife saying, “If I see something sagging, bagging or dragging, I’ll get it nipped, tucked or sucked.”

Many believe that Romanini’s obsession with her appearance began in her early 20s as she searched to perfect her pout and made her way into the plastic surgeon’s office for her first round of Botox injections to plump her already gorgeous lips. However, after the first round of injections failed to give Romanini the results she desired, she turned to more extreme measures and had over a dozen rounds of collagen injections to transform her once beautiful smile into a swollen and nightmarish pout. As one reporter wrote, “Michael’s favorite procedure was lip collagen injections. Eventually, the injections became like a drug to Romanini, who continued to have them until her lips morphed her into what looks like an alien creature.” Phone home, ET. Phone home.

All joking aside, Romanini refused to stop at her lips and her addiction blossomed as she turned to Botox injections to remove any unnecessary wrinkles around her eyes, lips and forehead. With the injections only adding puffiness to her face, Romanini continued to live by the mantra, “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy Botox and that’s kind of the same thing…” Once again, when the Botox stopped workings its magic after repeating the treatments every two to three months, Romanini took a cue from Dolly Parton and had a few nips and tucks to smooth out those pesky wrinkles and fix anything sagging, bagging or dragging.

With obviously very few limits as to what she would and wouldn’t do to perfect her appearance, the 5’6” Romanini slowly became more and more unrecognizable with every surgery and eventually shifted her focus to other parts of her body. Opting for a breast enhancement, her naturally robust chest gained a huge boost when implants took her to a size 34C with her waist measuring a petite 24 inches. Weighing only 115 pounds, the procedure made Romanini seem top-heavy as she teetered around looking more like a drag queen with a frozen face rather than the sex symbol she once was.

Because of Romanini’s natural beauty and alarming need to correct her appearance, she was often likened to the gorgeous Megan Fox who, like Romanini, ignored her natural beauty and opted for plastic surgery, which Fox has adamantly denied. “I would encourage anyone who wants plastic surgery to first speak with a therapist, to try and figure out where this want comes from,” Fox advised after denying any nips and tucks for herself. “Because a lot of times, it’s not related to your teeth or your nose or your chin—the surgery is not going to alleviate that insecurity for you. If, then, you feel, ‘This is something that I want to do,’ then do it.’ It’s amazing that we have the technology to do the stuff that we do.”

Regardless of whether Romanini’s numerous bouts under the knife were the result of her own insecurities or her sheer need for perfection, we’ll likely never know. However, one thing is for certain and that’s the fact that Romanini’s addiction has worsened over the years as she’s continuously enhanced her look with bushy eyebrows, a new nose, a frozen faces and poutier lips than ever before. In recent pictures, she’s also sporting an orange glow that suggests she’s either spending too much time in the tanning bed or that she’s had a spray tan gone terribly wrong. Either way, it only adds to her freakish appearance and the bittersweet memory that she was once the most beautiful woman in Italy.

Of course, the 50-something Romanini doesn’t seem to mind the harsh criticism over her looks or the fact that she’s often dubbed the “Paris Hilton of Italy” because she’s yet to face the rumors or justify her obsession. In fact, she seems perfectly content being compared to Donatella Versace, Joan Rivers and the rest of the plastic surgery posse especially since she has $10 million in the bank and plenty of money to spend on whatever procedure she wants next. So, what more could she possibly want?

Still single, we can’t help but wonder if the former Italian sex symbol ever dreams of one day settling down and finding love. Then again, that would mean baring it all—her heart and soul, her dreams and ambitions, and even her makeup-free face! Yikes!
